Bit per Joule Achievable Rate of Cooperative Sensor Networks with Hybrid ARQ
نویسنده
چکیده
Cooperation in wireless networks has been recently considered as a technique to increase the network throughput. However, for sensor networks with limited available energy, this benefit may come at the expense of a increased energy consumption due to the simultaneous transmission by many nodes. In this paper we consider the bit per Joule achievable rate (AR) as a performance measure of a cooperative wireless network, i.e. the bits transmitted per unit energy consumed by the entire network. For a network using carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) as error correction mechanism, we evaluate the bit per Joule AR for different cooperation configurations. The analysis includes the effects of path-loss and Rayleigh fading while as cooperative schemes we consider decode and forward, distributed space time coding and multiplexing coding.

The QoS-Guarantee of data delivery over wireless link is a big challenge due to the unreliable and dynamic characteristics of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, a cooperative forward error correction (FEC)/automatic repeat request (ARQ) mechanism was proposed, in the hope that the data packets could be received on receiver node with high quality. The mechanism, based on Kalman filter, pre...

Hybrid ARQ with Rate Compatible Punctured Turbo (RCPT) code achieves the highest throughput when minimum amount of redundancy bits is transmitted with each retransmission given that the allowable number of retransmissions is unlimited. However in a practical system, the number of retransmissions allowed is limited. In this paper we analyze the signal energy per information bit required for a gi...

This paper presents a new cooperative ARQ protocol for a hybrid mobile wireless sensor network. The mobile relay nodes decode the signal from the source sensor using cyclic redundancy check (CRC) and forward it to the destination sink. A distributed relay selection that exploits overhearing of inter-relay node transmission is employed to achieve higher selection diversity gain during retransmis...
